PROJECT DETAIL
Hotham Hall is a historic country estate nestled in the foothills of the Yorkshire Wolds Way in the idyllic hamlet of Hotham, East Yorkshire which dates back to 1730s.
David and Linda Kilburn purchased the property in 2020 and they immediately set to work to lovingly restore and curate the hall to an immaculate standard with a heritage focused approach to their renovation.
Although the Hall is David and Linda’s home, their aim is to sustain and enhance the estate’s economic and environmental resilience, ensuring it remains a beacon of sophisticated hospitality for future generations.
I have know the Kilburns for many years through our mutual membership of For Entrepreneurs Only (FEO) which David was instrumental in forming back in 2012 so I was delighted to be asked to get involved in this project.
PLANNING
The roll out of the offerings at Hotham Hall was to take a few months to execute and I was to capture the various wings/aspects of the Hall as they were finished. We estimated it would take a period of 6 months to capture what was initially needed to give websites/brochures and socials what they needed to breathe.
Various events were planned in to help support the launch and I worked closely with Linda and her ‘partner in crime’ Rachel Waugh to make sure we had a good handle on what was required.
CONTENT CHOICES
Stunning photography was the first order of the day. A venue of this monumental beauty looks good from all angles so my job was fairly straight forward in capturing the architectural nuances and interior design choices. Linda Kilburn is an incredible interior designer and her vision in bringing the interior/exterior spaces to life is just sublime.
Traditional photography was complimented with drone capture to show the size and magnitude of the estate from the air. These aerial shots really help tell the tale of the estate as a living, breathing environment.
We also used our ‘FPV’ (first person view) drone to capture some really dynamic videos of the outdoor dining area which we felt really brought this space to life.
GREAT RESULTS
Hotham Hall were delighted with the content package we delivered over the course of the project and we ourselves were delighted to be involved. A project like this doesn’t come along that often so getting out teeth into it was a real joy.

CLIENT FEEDBACK
“Working with Andrew and his team at Insight photography has been a real joy. We needed a really high end feel to the images and content for the Hall and he delivered that consistently throughout the project.
We now have a bullet proof library that we use constantly, the drone shots pack a massive punch for us and his fly through of the Woodland Dining Area was a real surprise addition to the library.
We will be asking Andrew and his team back whenever we need updates for our library and look forward to welcomning them back to the Hall soon”
