Mercure Hull Grange Park Hotel wedding photographyFriday saw us at the Mercure Hull Grange Park Hotel to celebrate a special couple. Paul and Lorraine’s story reminds me what love is, how powerful love is and how love transcends. Am I getting all gushy on you? Well, I guess I am but I am in the business of wedding photography after all!

It was a fabulous day and we were struck by the energy and togetherness of the family. Little did we know that the mother and father of the bride were not officially ‘together’.

Well our bride and groom had a ‘little break’ in that time. But, as we know – love transcends all the darkness in the world and brought these 2 crazy cats back together.

Lorraine and Paul decided they needed to re-affirm their love and their relationship. As Paul said in his speech, it needed to be done in the presence of their nearest and dearest. It would have been easy for them to nip off somewhere exotic and have a small re-wedding. But that wasn’t what they needed. They had to share this experience and as I type this, I’m filled with hope that love really can transcend. Their desire to share was paramount. It reminds me of the very popular reading that we hear in churches from ‘Paul’s Letter to the Corinthians’. A more appropriate reading for this wedding I can’t imagine.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

They then made their way to one of the East Riding’s most popular wedding venues: The Mercure Hull Grange Park Hotel. The weather was absolutely stunning for Paul and Lorraine. Mother Nature shone for them and they were able to really enjoy a relaxed afternoon drinking Prosecco in the gardens. It made for some stunning groups shops and Penny Drop Session. We giggled, we laughed, we smiled and had a great time with Lorraine and Paul – they make you want to be a better person!

Speeches were delivered before the wedding breakfast. It was so bizarre seeing one of our Fathers of Brides now performing a Groom’s speech . Even funnier was that Paul had performed 2 best man’s speech for his best man on this day – what a laugh!

I captured some more stylised images using the lovely blend of modern and classic features inside the Mercure Hull Grange Park Hotel’s interior. Guests started to arrive whilst the room was turned around for the night do. East Riding’s premier band ‘The Shine’ set up and rocked the house. This group had also played at Lorraine and Paul’s daughter’s wedding. We highly recommend The Shine if you want a modern, edgy band who play a broad range of classic and modern tunes.

wedding speeches at the Mercure Hull Grange Park HotelAnyhoo, here we are at the end of our story. Hannah and I left the hotel with a jamming dance floor. We packed up with smiles on our faces knowing we had been part of something very special. It was lovely to know we had captured every moment of this inspiring couples ‘re-coming together!
